Crystal-Clear Lake Baikal, in Russia,
is a vast body of the bluest water, surrounded by rocky or tree-covered
foreshores behind which mountains float like phantoms at indeterminable
distances. Baikal's meteorological mood swings are transfixing spectacles,
whole weather systems dancing for your delectation over Siberia's
'climatic kitchen'.
In the winter, for about five months or from January to May,
the (Lake Baikal Russia) freezes over but the water is so clear that, from the
surface, you can see an astounding 130 feet below you.
